MOTOR
AND DRIVE ASSEMBLY
The shaft-mounted
gear reduction is totally enclosed within an oil bath gear box. The
reduction is designed with easy service and customer convenience in
mind. The V-belt drive comes complete with V-belt guard. By simply changing
the drive pulley on the motor, you may increase or decrease the speed
to custom tailor the washing action on your material. All standard electric
motors are 230/460 Volt, 3-phase, 60 Hz. Parts required for routine
maintenance are standard off-the-shelf items and are easily found in
most metropolitan areas worldwide.
SHAFT-MOUNTED
GEAR REDUCER
A heavy-duty
drive is used on all GreyStone washers. Based on the use of standard,
direct, shaft-mounted gear reducers, the drive provides several significant
advantages.
The weight
of the paddle shaft is supported by externally mounted
pillow block bearings, not the gear reducer.
The drive
is fully enclosed, with all gears running in a sealed oil bath.
Maintenance
is economical since only stock reducers are used.
The drive
is simplified by reducing the number of shafts,
bearings and other components.
The gear reduction
is highly efficient because of the direct shaft
arrangement, with V-belt drive to electric motor and
belt guard.
Falk or Dodge
shaft-mounted gear reduction drives are used
and are readily available.
SHAFTING
The heavy
stub of mirror-smooth, heat-treated shafting is fitted into a hard chrome
steel wear sleeve. Shaft and sleeve are driven through a heavy-duty
rubber seal that fits snugly between the connecting disc and tub. A
specially designed slinger fits perpendicular to the shaft between the
roller bearing and sleeve and turns with the shaft adding further protection
to the outside mounted bearing from possible seal leakage.
EXTERNAL
BEARING
GreyStone
Blade Mill Aggregate Washers have externally mounted, greaseable pillow
block bearings that are designed to be adjustable. This feature allows
you to make a field adjustment of the clearance between the spiral flight
and the belly plate to increase or to decrease the clearance. The grease
fittings are conveniently located on the outside of the tub. The lower
bearings can be lubricated while in operation. These bearings are standard
off-the-shelf items, readily available in all metropolitan cities worldwide.
ADJUSTABLE
PADDLES AND SHAFT
GreyStone
paddles and wear shoes are made of heavy Ni-Hard. Paddle mounting bases
are constructed from heavy structural quality steel to give years of
service. GreyStone Blade Mill Washers are designed to thoroughly scrub
and wash aggregate up to 2 inches. Mud and soluble clay may be washed
from your gravel with a blade mill washer. Mud and soluble clay are
broken by the abrading of the aggregate and washing action. The washing
action is accomplished by material abrading against material. This material
movement is accomplished by the specially designed shaft with spirally
positioned paddles and strategically located, full-diameter flights.
This design will provide thorough washing action while maintaining your
required production level. Additional water may be added through the
optional rising current belly pan or by adding spray bars at the upper
end of the blade mill.
HEAVY-DUTY
SKID FRAME
GreyStone
washers are equipped with a heavy-duty skid frame. Pull a GreyStone
to where it's needed without using a crane...Exclusively GreyStone!
LARGE
HEAVY-DUTY TUB
Strong and
rigidly constructed screw washers are designed to provide years of maintenance-free
service. GreyStone tubs are all of welded construction and are made
of 1/4" thick ASTM A-36 steel plate with an angle iron skid frame. GreyStone
machines have a heavy belly plate which is curved to fit tightly to
the screw shaft. During operation, this feature keeps sand from slipping
back and will maintain your production level. GreyStone also offers
Blade Mills with a long tub design. This long tub comes standard with
a side-mounted adjustable water weir. These features may be used to
allow the aggregate to dewater after it has moved out of the pool area.
A spray bar may be used to rinse the aggregate before it is discharged
from the washer. In some operations, this longer tub will eliminate
the need for a dewatering screen as the aggregate is discharged.
ADJUSTABLE
WATER WEIR FOR LONG TUB BLADE MILLS
An easily
adjustable water weir will allow you to remove or add gates to adjust
your water level within the tub. This unique feature will allow you
to tailor the washing action to your aggregate needs.

OPTIONAL
RISING CURRENT BELLY PAN
The rising
current water enters the pool from the bottom and filters up -- separating
fines, dirt and other extraneous matter which are carried to the top
and forced out the overflow water weir.
OPTIONAL
SUPPORT LEGS
Support legs
are available to adjust the tub slope from 2° to 8°, matching
washing action to material requirements.
